Those who follow the early history of UFO'S and 'FLYING SAUCER' Phenomena are usually somewhat aware of reported activity in the State of New Hampshire and also around New England. The various accounts of 'ALIEN ABDUCTIONS' involving BETTY & BARNEY HILL are also noted by most with both skepticism and acceptance that something unusual actually happened but which defies most explanations, especially of 'extra-terrestrials' or 'space-aliens'.
It seems to me that much of the reported UFO activity can be attributed, though without much actual proof or confirmation to US AIR FORCE activities and operations and perhaps to various 'experiments or 'tests', especially of a 'clandestine' nature purportedly for 'national defense' and/or 'national security'.
One need not go too far into this area or reveal far too much that such 'speculation' might produce, uncover, or exaggerate, and upset 'the powers that be'.
The former PEASE AIR FORCE BASE had its specific missions during the COLD WAR in New Hampshire. With the changes in aircraft design, function, speed, and other capabilities hardly imagined by most people, the mission of that base changed so that SAC was no longer needed.
Nevertheless, a lot of military and government operations and developments and research still are to be found in the hills and rural areas of New Hampshire as well as in Vermont.
